Overview
SASMO International Math Olympiad, which began in 2006, is one of Asia's largest math competitions. SASMO 2019 attracted more than 30,000 participants from 21 countries. We presently have over 35 countries and territories as of 2021.
With the help of the SASMO Advisory Council, the SASMO Team spends countless hours meticulously preparing contest papers that cover both classroom and Olympiad math. In comparison to pure-Olympiad papers, this combined effort allows participants to do better because they are familiar with some questions and can put on their thinking caps for others, bringing out their inner mathematician.
SASMO contests aim to extend students' untapped thinking capabilities through realistic and high standards; their involvement in SASMO will help them progress in classroom mathematics as well as higher-order thinking skills (HOTS).
Objective
SASMO is aimed at the top 40% of students and attempts to pique their interest in mathematical problem-solving in order to promote mathematical intuition, reasoning, logical, creative, and critical thinking.
Eligibility
SASMO is open to students from grades 1 to 12. The contest has a time limit of 90 minutes. Each level includes a differentiating paper with 25 questions divided into two sections:
