Atal Medical & Research University, Himachal Pradesh, (AMRU) came into existence after the enactment of an Act by the State Legislature, ‘The Himachal Pradesh University of Health Sciences Act, 2017’ which was further amended in 2019 to rename the University in the name and style of Atal Medical & Research University, Himachal Pradesh. The Government of Himachal Pradesh further notified to make the Headquarter of the University at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Govt. Medical College, Mandi, at Ner Chowk.
After the establishment of the University all the streams of medicines such as Modern System of Medicine, Dental Sciences, Nursing Sciences, Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy, various Para-medical disciplines such as Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy etc. will be affiliated with the University for the purpose of registration of students, regulations and conduct of examinations of all the academic courses and to award degrees and diplomas to the students in the State of Himachal Pradesh.

B.Sc. Nursing 4 Years (Female Candidates Only)
Eligibility and Educational Qualifications
(i) Female Children of Bonafide Himachali/ Himachal Govt. employees and employees of Autonomous bodies wholly or partially financed by the Himachal Pradesh Government will only be eligible to apply for admission to 4 years B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course (Government Quota) through Entrance Test to be conducted by Atal Medical and Research University, HP, at Ner Chowk, Distt. Mandi, HP
(ii) For filling up of 50% Management Quota Seats in Private un-aided B.Sc. Nursing Colleges in State of Himachal Pradesh, there will be no requirement of being Himachali Bonafide. Under this quota, both Himachali and Non- Himachali interested candidates can compete in the entrance test subject to fulfillment of minimum educational qualifications and age criteria as prescribed in the prospectus. Note: The above candidates should be Indian National.
(iii) The age of candidates should be between 17 to 35 years as on 31st, December 2023 i.e. the candidate should be born between 01.01.1989 and 01.01.2007. However, upper age can be relaxed by 5 years in the case of SC/ST candidates i.e. the candidates must have been born between 01.01.1984 and 01.01.2007. Age as recorded in the matriculation certificate will be entertained.
(iv) Admission to married candidates will be allowed subject to production of medical fitness certificate and candidate can only appear in final examination after 80 % attendance in theory and 100% in practical.
(v) The candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from H.P. Board of School Education/AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or any other Board/University established by law in India in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and with 45% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. The candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination 10 will be 40% instead of 45% as stated above. Provided further that English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Nursing) course. The candidate should be medically fit.
