About TOEFL

 

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is an internationally recognized test used to assess the English skills of non-native English speakers wishing to study or work in an English-speaking country. Eligibility Criteria

Types of TOEFL

 

TOEFL iBT
 

  • The TOEFL iBT is the most commonly taken version of the Test.

  • The Test consists of four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing.

  • Each section is scored on a scale of 0 to 30; the total score ranges from 0 to 120.
     

TOEFL Essentials Test
 

  • The TOEFL Essentials test measures four fundamental language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

  • The user-friendly test format contains short but engaging tasks related to both academic and everyday life situations.

  • You can take the test at home in about 1.5 hours.

How you’ll get your scores

 

  • You will receive an email when your scores are available and you will be able to access your online account.

  • Your scores are valid for 2 years, so you may need to download and print a PDF copy of your score report.

  • PDF transcripts are available for download 2 days after you receive scores electronically in your ETS account.
