HOW TO PREPARE FOR VARIOUS ENTRANCE EXAMS
There are several major entrance exams in the country conducted each year for admissions to various courses in colleges, institutes and universities. It is important to discuss about how to prepare for these exams, as students are in dilemma about how to study and devise plans for the same. It is important that we have complete knowledge about the subjects and various sections that are going to be a part of these exams, and which books will help in the related study. Also, it is important to know the common pattern that goes through many examinations.
When we talk about exams like NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) for Medical courses, and JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) for Engineering courses, the subjects are majorly based on the academics of class 11 and 12, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. There are prescribed books and preparation is solely based on the practice of these subjects. This same academic approach is followed by other academic based courses. On the other hand, there are various skill based courses which have a different pattern of examination, and their subjects vary from those of academic courses. - Law: The most important examination for law is the CLAT exam, which comprises of five sections- Logical Reasoning, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude, English and General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
- Management: Entrance exams for management courses; include the subjects of English, Logical Reasoning, Elementary Mathematics and General Knowledge.
- Mass Communication: The exams for entrances to mass communication courses comprise of these sections- English, Mathematics (optional), Reasoning, General Knowledge and Contemporary Media Studies.
- Hotel Management: The subjects for HM exams are English, Mathematics (optional), Reasoning, General Knowledge and Aptitude for the service industry.
- Designing: The subjects for Designing entrance exams are English, Mathematics, Reasoning, General Knowledge, Aptitude and Creativity..
Preparing for the common subjects
We have observed that the sections of English, Elementary Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and General Knowledge run uniformly through almost every examination. This implies that preparation for these 4 basic subjects will help in clearing any of the above examinations. These subjects are of significant relevance in checking a students’ aptitude, basic knowledge and a grip on language.
