The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is a professional body offering training and qualification in management accountancy and related subjects. It is focused on accountants working in industry, and provides ongoing support and training for members. CIMA prepares people for a career in business. It teaches skills for strategic advice, managing risk and making key decisions.

Anyone can study CIMA, whether you’re new to business and accounting or already have some experience. The only requirements are competence in mathematics and the English language.

Certificate in Business Accounting (CERT BA)

 

Our Cert BA and Professional qualifications together form the CIMA qualification. If you don’t have a relevant qualification to start in at Professional level then you can start here.

 

Subject:

 

The Cert BA consists of four subjects:

 

• BA1 Fundamentals of Business Economics
• BA2 Fundamentals of Management Accounting
• BA3 Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
• BA4 Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law

 

Entry Requirement:

 

• There are no entry requirements for the Cert BA, just a good understanding of English and Maths.

 

Exams:

 

• Cert BA Objective Tests are 120 minutes long, computer based and available on demand all year round.
• All of our Cert BA and Professional exams are computer-based and available at over 6,000 Pearson VUE assessment centres worldwide.

 

Cert BA exams are 120 minutes long. BA1, BA2 and BA3 will each contain 60 objective test questions, while BA4 will contain 85 objective test questions.

 

Objective Tests are available on demand and computer marked, so as soon as you have completed your Objective Test you will receive a provisional exam result of either ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’ at the Pearson VUE assessment centre.

 

Availability:

 

• There are no start and end dates for the Cert BA, you can register and start studying all year round.

 

Length of qualification

 

• Approximately 12-18 months. This will depend on your prior knowledge and availability to study.

 

CIMA qualifications framework

 

The framework comprises of the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting and the CIMA Professional Qualification.

In order to become a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), you need a minimum of three years' verified relevant work-based practical experience.
