Commercial pilots fly aircrafts that carries passengers and cargo. They may also work in other industries and have duties like monitoring traffic and participating in rescue operations. The job of a pilot is a highly specialised one. LEVELS OF TRAINING AS PILOT
- Students Pilot Licence: for flying at training school
- Private Pilot Licence: is the minimum required for a pilot to take passengers(small number) up with him or her.
- Commercial Pilot Licence: the minimum requirement to obtain a job in airlines as pilot.
- Airline Transport Pilot License: requirement to become a Captain with an airline.

- Requirements for issue of Licence - An applicant for a Commercial Pilot’s Licence shall satisfy the following requirements:-
- Age - Trainee shall be not less than Eighteen years of age on the date of application.
- Educational Qualification - 10+2 with PCM
- Medical Fitness -Trainee shall produce on a prescribed proforma a certificate of physical fitness from an approved Medical Board.
- Knowledge- Trainee shall pass a written examination in Air Regulations, Air Navigation, Aviation Meteorology and aircraft and Engines and Signals (practical) examination for interpretation of aural and visual signals, as per the syllabus prescribed by the DGCA.
- Experience- Trainee shall produce evidence of having satisfactorily completed as a pilot of an aeroplane within a period of five years immediately preceding the date of application for licence not less than two hundred hours as per DGCA requirement.
